History of the breed
The history of Peterbald begins in 1994 in Saint Petersburg under the leadership of Olga S. Mironova with the union of a male Donskoy, a breed of hairless cats discovered and selected in Rostov on the Don at the end of the 1980s. , and an Oriental cat. Olga's idea was to combine the grace and elegance of the Oriental with the peach skin of the Donskoy. The ultra short fur of the Peterbald was indeed a way to highlight the morphology and the Oriental type: No superfluous hair that masks the elegance of a neckline or thickens a tail!
Little by little, marriages with the Donskoys were therefore forbidden to allow only those with Siamese and Orientals.
